How to connect Sage Intacct to Syft

Sage Intacct is a cloud-based financial management and accounting software designed for small to mid-sized businesses and is particularly well-regarded in the nonprofit, healthcare, professional services, and software industries. As part of the Sage product portfolio, Sage Intacct stands out for its robust financial capabilities, real-time operational insights, and comprehensive automation of complex processes.

Syft and Sage Intacct

The integration between Syft and Sage Intacct unlocks significant value and insight for your financial reports and analytics. The integration retrieves transactional level data from Sage Intacct to be used in addressing all of your reporting needs. The granular level data can be used in features including reports, visualizations, consolidations, forecasts, budgets, valuations and multi-entity insights.

📓 Note

Syft divisions are called dimensions for Sage Intacct. Thus, our "Filter for divisions" functionality on Syft can be used for Sage Intacct dimensions!

How to connect a Sage Intacct entity to Syft

The process to connect Sage Intacct to Syft consists of multiple steps on Sage Intacct prior to adding the entity on Syft. The steps to follow are:

Subscribe to Web Services

To subscribe to Web Services, the following steps must be completed:

  1. In the drop-down list, select "Company", "Admin" and then "Subscriptions"

  2. Toggle "Web Services" on to subscribe

  3. Ignore the warning about additional charges

Add a sender ID

Add Syft Analytics Sender ID to your allowed web services list. To do this, simply:

  1. Navigate to "Company" and then "Setup"

  2. Click "Company"

  3. Go to the Security tab

  4. Navigate to "Web Services authorizations"

  5. Add the Sender ID: syftanalyticsMPP

Build up Syft Analytics role

The Syft Analytics role will be set up to allow for the web services user to be able to fetch all of the relevant data. This is to ensure that all of the resources are accessible and that there are no restrictions on the permissions.

  1. Navigate to "Company" and then "Admin"

  2. Click on "Roles"

  3. On the new landing page, click "Add"

  4. Add a name and description for the role you are creating, then click "Save"

  5. For each of the modules in the list, you have to select "Read only" in the menu and select "List" and "View" for all of the items within that particular module. This process has to be manually repeated for all of the modules.

  6. Click "Save"

Create a new web services user

If you are looking to create a dedicated Web Service User to specifically interact with your Syft Analytics integration, do the following:

  1. Navigate to "Company" and then "Admin"

  2. Click on "Web Services users"

  3. Under the "User information" tab, fill in your User ID, Username and email address

  4. Ensure that the User type is set to "Business" as this is a critical part of the integration process

  5. Admin privileges are not essential, but it will ease potential hang-ups and errors that may arise in the integration process

  6. Under the "Roles information" tab, select the Syft Analytics role that you previously created

  7. Select all of the entities under the "User entities" tab

  8. Similarly, select all of the departments under the "User departments" tab

  9. Finally, select all of the territories under the "User territories" tab

  10. Click "Save"

IP Address

Add our IP Address to your Sage Intacct allowed IP list. This can be done by:

  1. Navigating to "Company" and then "Setup"

  2. Click "Company"

  3. Click "Edit" and go to the security tab

  4. Find "Enforce IP Address Filter" and select "Enforce at Company Level"

  5. Click "Manage Filters".

  6. In the pop-up, enter the following information:

    • Start IP address: 10.128.0.0

    • End IP address: 10.128.15.255

Adding the Sage Intacct entity to Syft

To connect your Sage Intacct entity to Syft, follow the steps below:

  1. Click "Add entity" at the top right-hand side of your screen

  2. You’ll now be redirected to the add entity setup page, where you can click on “Sage Intacct”

  3. Use the log in details that have been sent to your email address when you created a new Web Service User. Click "Link Account".

Your Sage Intacct entity is now connected to Syft and the data can be used in financial reporting and analytical insights.

📓 Note

Syft pulls through journals on a daily basis instead of transaction-level detail for Sage Intacct. Consequently, the following functionality is not available for a Sage Intacct entity:

  • Eliminations

  • Customer or product data

  • Uploading budgets to Syft but Syft budgets can still be created
