Additionally, it offers HR functionalities such as employee onboarding, time tracking, and compliance support. Gusto is an intuitive and cost-effective solution for managing payroll and HR processes, allowing your business to focus on growth.

Syft and Gusto

Connect Gusto to Syft to complement your financial data with payroll and HR information. Syft Analytics seamlessly integrates with Gusto and transforms payroll data into graphs, forecasts, and insights that can be included in customizable reports.

📓 Note

On Syft, we refer to non-financial information, such as your Gusto payroll data, as "Connection data."

How to connect Gusto to Syft

To connect Gusto to Syft as connection data, navigate to "Connections" in the side panel and follow the steps below:

  1. Click on "Add connection" within the "Overview" top tab

  2. Click on "Payroll" within the pop-up menu and select "Gusto"

  3. Log in to your Gusto account and choose a company to connect to Syft

  4. Click "Authorize"

  5. Your different departments will then pull through to Syft from Gusto and these will then be split across different tabs at the top of your Connections screen

  6. Navigate to the new top tabs within "Connections" to view your data

In addition to the departmental top tabs, there is also a "Totals" tab which aggregates your payroll information for each month company-wide.

Analyze

Once you have connected Gusto to Syft, you can use the connected data in a number of features, including:

  • Dashboards: where you can visualize critical payroll information alongside financial information that you have pulled through from your accounting software

  • KPIs: where you can analyze your payroll data alongside other key metrics

  • Ledgers: where you can build complex tables across both financial and non-financial information, including your payroll information

  • Financial Health: where you can add payroll data as criteria in your financial health scorecards

  • Forecasting: where you can plan for future scenarios with payroll data

  • Budgeting: where you can include payroll information in budgets

  • Reports: where you can compile all the above-mentioned reports, visualizations and analytics into one place

💡 Pro tip

If you prefer, you can always unlink Gusto data from your forecasts or budgets to input values manually for certain scenarios.

Sidenote

  • Error: If there is an error in which not all your data has pulled through to Syft, disconnect Gusto and reconnect. This will also require you to re-authenticate the connection.

  • Refresh: Your data on Syft automatically refreshes every 24 hours. Additionally, if you navigate to a Connection tab, you will see an “Update now” button at the top right. If you click this, it will refresh your data for all connections linked to that Gusto account.

  • Disconnect: To disconnect Gusto from Syft, open one of your Gusto connections and click on the “Disconnect account” button at the top right of the screen. If you click “Disconnect account”, it will disconnect your entire Gusto company account. However, if you just want to disconnect one department, you can click on the trashcan icon next to the department name at the top left of the tab.
