About
Our new KPI Scorecards combine Financial Health, Sales Health, and KPIs so that all metrics can be found, created, and customized in one place.
KPI scorecards empower you to measure your organization's performance with the KPIs that make the most sense for your business. You can use these scorecards to compare your performance to budgets, forecasts, or specific targets and track these metrics across multiple periods to know exactly how your business is faring and where you may want to improve.
Navigate to "Analyze" > "KPI Scorecards," where you will find a pre-built financial health scorecard ready for you to use. The top tabs, "Standard" and "Multi-Period," allow you to view your scorecard across multiple periods or to have a more focused view.
Compare data
All scorecards have a comparison dropdown function from which you can select one of the following data sets to compare to your actuals:
vs. Target
vs. Prior
vs. Prior L.Y
vs. Budget
vs. Forecast
You are also able to pin certain metrics to the top of your scorecard by clicking on the pin icon when hovering over a certain metric, such as Net Profit, as shown in the image above.
A maximum of 3 cards can be pinned to the top of your scorecard. By pinning more metrics, these cards will replace your existing pinned cards. Clear your pinned cards by clicking the 3 dots at the top of your screen, as shown below.
Magnify equations
Additionally, magnify the equations used to calculate each metric to get a quick glance into what makes up your metric values by hovering over the magnify icon, as shown below. You will be able to see the variables used in the metric's equation. The metric is calculated using real values, as well as a description of the metric if this was specified when creating the metric.
Drill down
By clicking on any KPI number in your scorecard, you can now see the underlying transaction list with all relevant accounts included in the KPI, providing in-depth insights into what's causing various outcomes.
How to create a scorecard
There are different ways to create a scorecard and different types of scorecards to choose from.
There are three ways you can create a new scorecard:
Use a pre-built scorecard template
Import your existing KPIs, financial health, and sales health metrics
Create a new "Start from scratch" scorecard
Click on the "+" icon to create a new scorecard. Once you have selected what kind of scorecard you want to create, click "Next", as shown in the image below.
Scorecard templates
Pre-built scorecard templates each have a different set of default metrics that will populate the template. There are three different types of templates to choose from when selecting a pre-built scorecard:
Financial health scorecard
Sales health scorecard
Standard KPIs scorecard
Import existing metrics
When you choose to import existing metrics, three scorecards will be created. Your existing KPIs, financial health and sales health metrics that you have created and set up will pull through as scorecards that you can navigate between from the scorecard name dropdown.
π Note
What will happen to your old KPIs and health criteria? These new scorecards will eventually replace your current financial health metrics and KPIs, as everything will now be in one place after you import these existing metrics as scorecards.
Start from scratch
A start-from-scratch scorecard enables you to create a brand-new set of metrics using any data source on Syft. You can create entire scorecards focused on analyzing a specific corner of your business by only creating relevant metrics and determining their parameters.
Once you create a start from scratch scorecard, your page will switch to Build mode, where you will be prompted to add criteria and formatting. Once you are happy with the metrics and layout created, click the π οΈ icon to switch to View mode.
Build mode
Click on the π οΈ icon to switch from View mode to Build mode. From Build mode, you will be able to customize the layout and format of your scorecard as well as add or remove metrics from your scorecard.
Formatting
You can also customize your scorecard's formatting by clicking the "Add format" button once in Build mode. You can then add headings and spacers to improve the layout of your scorecard.
Create a metric
You can customize scorecard metrics by clicking the "Add criteria" button once in Build mode. You can then add accounts, connections, customer data and product data to the equation block.
Type "@" and then the metric you would like to insert into the equation block, such as "@sales," and related metrics will pop up for you to choose from. Alternatively, click one of the selections underneath the equation block such as "P&L Account". You will then be able to select a category and a subsequent account from your P&L.
Within "Manage your criteria," you can specify how you would like the metric to behave, such as its importance, target, and scaling functionality.
Assign layouts
You can also assign P&L and Balance Sheet layouts to your scorecard by clicking the three dots at the top of the screen and then selecting "Assign layouts." You can allocate different layouts to different scorecards if need be.
π Note
The layouts you assign to a scorecard will affect how those metrics within that scorecard are calculated.
For example, if you apply a P&L layout to a scorecard and this layout has two accounts within the sales category, then a scorecard metric created to calculate total sales will only be calculated using those two accounts.
However, if you apply a different P&L layout to that same scorecard, where the sales category has five accounts allocated to it in this layout, then the total sales metric will be calculated using five accounts instead.
Dashboards
Graph your KPI Scorecard metrics within dashboards, as shown below. When adding a new dashboard card, select "KPI Scorecards" and then select the scorecard from which you would like to graph a specific metric.
Connections
You can also include Connections in your KPI Scorecards. To find out more about this, watch this quick video:
π Note
If you are on the Standard plan, you cannot add new criteria or compare to budget or forecast.
On the Plus plan, you also have 1 scorecard but you can add new criteria and compare to budget or forecast.
On Advanced, you have the ability to add as many scorecards as you like, you can add new criteria, and you can compare to budget and forecast.
